Da nessun luogo con affetto

Instrumentation: live electronics and ad lib. soloists

Year: 2020

Duration: 30’~60′

The piece is rooted in the experimental spirit of the glorious avant-garde era of the 60s and 70s, when free improvisation, non-conventional notation (graphic, textual, etc.), live electronics, as well as the jazz revolutions of Ornette Coleman and Miles Davis and the rock explorations of the Italian band Area, stretched the boundaries of every previous concept of music. In this composition, the musicians (with instrumentation ad libitum) are free to choose when and how to sonically interpret the four textual directions of each section or “musical game” (five in total), that constitutes Da nessun luogo con affetto (“From nowhere with love”). Intuitive understanding among the group members is essential to create a coherent continuum of controlled improvisation, through moments of tutti or solo, chaotic or densely contrapuntal passages, between instruments as well as between instruments and live electronics. The electronic elements constantly intervene, both warping and expanding the instrumental sound, and take part as an active member of the ensemble.
